SUSAN PETERS
January 4, 1925 - July 23, 2013
Susan Peters, age 88, passed into glory into the loving arms of her Savior on July 23, 2013, with her family surrounding her.
Susan, or Sue, as most people knew her, was born in a Mennonite village in Russia on January 4, 1925 to Susanna and John Reimer, Sr. At the age of 6 months her family fled the growing unrest and immigrated to Mexico because Canada would not let the group they were with in because of some medical issue. She lived there until the age of 4. Then they immigrated to Montana, lived there a few years, then moved to eastern Washington and finally to a farm in Lynden, Washington.
On October 24, 1947 Susan married David Peters and moved to Dallas, Oregon. To this union were born 7 children: Betty Barbee (Wally), Lorelei Gullett (Reece), Judy Johnson (Dan), Lucy Frost (Jim), Paul Peters (Holly) and Bill Peters (Kay). Her first son, David D. Peters, preceded her to glory at 18 months of age. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Also preceding her to glory were her parents, her brothers, Abraham and John, Jr., and her sisters, Elizabeth and Katherine. Surviving her is her brother, Isaac, sisters, Doris and Mary Ellen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was very active in her church. She loved and enjoyed her family. She also loved to travel.
Most important, Sue's faith was very important to her. She came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and continued growing in her faith throughout her life. Through her and their dad's examples, all of her children came to know the Lord, too.
Visitation at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center will be Monday, July 29th from 4-8pm. Celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Evangelical Bible Church in Dallas. Private interment will be in the Salt Creek Cemetery. Judy and Lucy,
I was saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was a
lovely person and raised some fine upstanding children. You
and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
