Virginia Fern Campbell

January 18, 1923 to July 3, 2014

Virginia Fern Campbell was born January 18, 1923 to Jenny and Clifford Abell in Chicago, Illinois. Fern had one brother, Robert. She was valedictorian of her high school and graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, majoring in fine arts. She and her husband, Ernest Robert Campbell were married June 19, 1945. In 1952, they planted the Salem Bible Church. They also began Canyonview Camp in 1963, a Christian youth camp where thousands of young people come to hear about God's love for them through Jesus Christ. Fern was active as a leader in Pioneer Girls for many years. She had a passion for teaching the Bible and was skilled in both Greek and Hebrew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Campbell in 2009. Surviving children are Robert Campbell, Ruby Price, Barbara Parson, Nancy Stearns and Sally Minnis. Fern was a grandmother to nine children and great grandmother to thirteen children. She is home now in heaven with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Her life and ministry reflected the truth as written in Galatians 6:14 "But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."

A memorial service will be held at Salem Bible Church on Saturday, July 12th at 11:00 AM.
