Obituary Condolences

March 26, 1929 - June 14, 2013

Kathryn "Wanita" Murray, a resident of Dallas, Oregon passed away peacefully Friday June 14th with family by her side in Dallas. Wanita Kathryn was born in Albany, Oregon on March 26, 1929 to Marion Clair (Pete) and Mary Violet Harter Westbrook. She grew up in Falls City, attending school there and a short time in Dallas. Her childhood was spent surrounded by many cousins and school friends. She held them all dear to her heart, until the end of her life. In 1946, Kathryn married Phillip Murray at the Murray family home in Falls City. During their marriage they lived in Falls City, Toledo, Newport, Salem, Waldport and the last 50 years in Dallas. Kathryn and Phillip were married close to 62 years, until Phillip passed away in 2008. One of our Moms greatest specialties was entertaining family and friends at the Murray Hidden Valley Ranch, where everyone always gathered. She was a homemaker and loved to cook and bake. Her pies were always a special treat. Mom really enjoyed country music and listening to the Grandkids, play guitars and sing, something she used to do in earlier years with her sisters. She loved to stay connected to family and friends by telephone. Everyone enjoyed the calls and will miss them. Mom was a very generous person and loved spending time with her family and friends. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, and siblings, Raymond (Woody), Ron, Wanda, Mary Jean and Aiden.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Mary) Murray, Lora Lee (Dene) Edwards, Les Murray, Joni (Mark) Minahan, Jill (Jim) Przybyla. Grandchildren, Amy, Angie, Melanie, Nick, Nathan, Molly, Blake, Richie, Jamie, Rebecca, Dustin, Jamie, Christopher. "Adopted" Granddaughter Khristine, 9 Great Grandchildren, Brother-in-law, Fred Dornhecker, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be in the Upper Falls City Cemetery on Wednesday, June 19th at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Kathryn's Life will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center, Dallas, Oregon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Falls City, or in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center who is caring for the family.
