Mary Jane McIntee

March 16, 1933 - September 27, 2014

Mary Jane McIntee, a bundle of joy, was born in Toledo, Oregon on March 16, 1933 to Pauline R. and William J. McIntee. She passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 at "The Woods," an Alzheimer's Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility located in Salem, Oregon. Her parents preceded her in death. Mary Jane loved life. She was a creative, talented lady, and very proud of her Irish Heritage. She attended Mt Angel Academy, a Catholic Girls School, taught by the Benedictine Sisters of Mt Angel, Oregon. She received her teaching degree from Oregon College of Education, Monmouth, Oregon. Her teaching career spanned a period of 40 years; she loved teaching the elementary grades. When school was out during the summer, she worked as a Girl Scout Counselor at Silver Creek Girl Scout Camp, Silver Creek Falls. She retired from Nellie Muir School, Woodburn, Oregon. Mary Jane then went on to become a roving art teacher through the "Artist in Residency Program." Mary Jane was well known for her art and music. She drew her own pictures and became proficient in the art of paper cutting. She took pride in her home and her pets, and loved to entertain, especially around the holidays; she was an excellent cook and hostess, well known for her fine meals and tasty spirits. She was a long time member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and sang in the choir for 30 years, and was also an active member of the Salem Chorus. Mary Jane is survived by her cousin Steve Casper, a large extended family and many friends. She touched many lives with her kindness, generosity, and Irish sense of humor. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. (When Irish Eyes Are Smiling) A Rosary followed by a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Friday October 17th, 2014 at 10:30am. Burial will be at Belcrest Memorial Park. Keizer Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services are handling the arrangements.
