Rosemary Perkins Obituary

Rosemary Justine Perkins

May 28, 1942 - March 8, 2016

Keizer - Rosemary Justine Perkins ("Rosie") of Keizer, Oregon passed away peacefully with her husband and family at her bedside in Salem, Oregon on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the age of 73. She died of complications from Dementia. We want to thank all of the staff at Cedar Village Memory Care for taking such loving care of our mom this past year.

Rosie was born on May 28, 1942 in McMinnville, Oregon to Joseph and Victoria Papen. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Ronald W. Perkins, Sr., daughters Raeann Zuber Craig (Dean), Mary Zuber Wheeler (Bill), Dena Zuber Turner (Dennis) and Kristina Zuber Wilson (Travis), stepsons, Ron Perkins, Jr. (Denise), Kenneth Perkins (Vera), 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Loretta Kleinsmith, Father Gerald Papen, George Papen (Barbara), Jan Milo (Bill), Ron Papen (Rebecca), Vicky Linendoll, Marlene Clohessy (John) and preceded in death by siblings Marie Vollman, John Papen, Richard Papen, Brother Anthony Papen, David Papen and Darlene Stout.

Rosie grew up in Sheridan, Oregon and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1960. She worked as a telephone operator right out of high school. She was married and had four daughters between 1962 and 1970 while living in Salem and Portland, Oregon. Rosie worked many years for Montgomery Ward and The Oregon State Marine Board before retiring in 2010.

Rosie enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting with her many relatives and spending time with her children and grandchildren. One of her most memorable trips was a Mexican Riviera cruise with her spouse, children and grandchildren. Another highlight of her travels was a month long trip to Japan with Ron where they visited with many of the families of the exchange students they hosted over the years. Rosie was also actively involved in her church and volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce in Keizer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday March 18, 2016 at Dayspring Fellowship, 1755 Lockhaven Dr. NE, Keizer, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimers Network of Oregon, 1449 Liberty St SE, Salem, OR 97302.

I am so sorry to hear of Rosie's passing. She was a dear friend. We had some fun times hosting exchange student's and getting together when we were all in Japan . I just found out that she had passed away yesterday.
