Glen D. Brandt

Salem - November 18, 1926-July 14, 2018

Glen was born in West Point, Nebraska to Ann (Grevson) Brandt and Eskel E. Brandt and passed away at age 91 in Salem, Oregon.

At the age of 9, dad moved with his family from Nebraska arriving in Silverton, OR on Halloween 1936. Dad's family moved to their farm in Salem where dad attended Swegle, Parrish, and Salem H.S. Prior to graduation, dad enlisted in the Navy and did his basic training at Farragot, Idaho. Dad was stationed on the U.S.S. Floyd's Bay refueling ship during his time of service.

Following dad's service, he helped on the family farm and worked for Western Auto. During this time he met and married the love of his life, Marilyn Jean Anderson on July 3rd, 1949 in Reno, Nevada.

Dad was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor, and was loyal to a fault. Dad could fix anything, was a wonderful story teller, and was a "dad" to many! Dad enjoyed fishing with his dogs at Odell Lake where he made many lifelong friends. Dad enjoyed crabbing and salmon fishing with his family on the Oregon Coast. He also enjoyed supporting his grandkids' sports, plays, art exhibits, and Soap Box Derby races. Dad enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Ducks and the Beavers!

Dad was very hardworking in his construction career, supervising many large projects including South Albany H.S., Peace Lutheran Church, and a major addition to Salem Hospital. Dad finished his career with the Salem-Keizer School District retiring in 1990.

Dad shall be forever remembered by his son Steve (Timmie) Brandt, daughter Tracey (Mark) Sherwood and his adoring grandchildren Trevor, Doug, Janelle, and Matt.

Dad is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn in 1994, his parents and all seven of his siblings.

A Celebration of Dad's Life will be held on Sunday August 19th from 1-4 at the Paradise Island Parks Clubhouse 3100 Turner Rd SE, Salem, OR.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hemophilia Center at OHSU Portland, OR, or a charity of your choice.
