Gary Lou Clevinger, 71, of 1041 Ridgewood Lane, St. Augustine, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 in Currituck, North Carolina.

He was born Dec. 11, 1946 in Hoult, West Virginia, to the late Bernard Lou Clevinger and Kathryn Geraldine Byerly Clevinger and was the husband of Judy Caroon Clevinger of the residence. He was retired Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves and as a fire fighter for the city of Chesapeake.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Braden Clevinger, Kyle Clevinger and wife Stephanie, and Kevin Clevinger; a stepson, Dallas Maw and wife Adele; two sisters, Velma Beck and husband Jerry, and Ainslie Aleis; and three grandchildren, Kelsey Clevinger, Ashton Clevinger, and Kimberley Maw. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Kimberley Maw.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
