Makinley Rain Morris Obituary
Makinley Rain Morris, age 13, of St. Augustine, passed away after a long battle with leukemia on May 28, 2015, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in St. Augustine and had lived here all of her life. Makinley was an eighth grade student at Gamble Rogers Middle School. She was in equal measure athletic and artistic and was full of life. She enjoyed competing in gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, soccer and just about every sport available to her. She was very artistic and loved to draw and do makeup. Makinley especially enjoyed fishing with her dad. More than anything, she will be remembered as a bright light in her family. She was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend, and will be dearly missed. "Nobody fights alone!"
She is survived by her parents, Shawn and Amanda Morris; sister, Sierra Morris; brothers, Canyon Morris and Kade Morris, all of St. Augustine; maternal grandparents, Lucille and Parnell Bennett; paternal grandparents, Helen and Nate Morris; maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Perkins, and many aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Todd Maure officiating. A visitation beginning at 2 p.m. will precede the service.
A celebration of Makinley's life will continue after the service at the Shrine Club, 250 Brainard Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32086. Flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations in Makinley's memory can be made at: www.makinleyrain.com.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
