Natalie Barton Snyder Obituary
Natalie Barton Snyder, 97, passed away at her home in St. Augustine on Wednesday, 9 January 2019. She was born in Milton, Iowa on October 15, 1921. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in Lagrange, IL. She married John (Jack) Snyder whom she met in high school on September 4, 1942. Jack predeceased Natalie on February 6, 2016 after 73 years of marriage. While her husband served his country during World War II, Natalie managed the local Sears store in St. Augustine. After reuniting in St. Augustine they moved back to Lagrange, Ill where they both had family. They returned to St. Augustine. in 1952 where she and her husband opened and operated Dura Cleaners on King St (next to Broudy's Groceries) until 1959. At that time they moved with their four children to West Palm Beach. They owned/operated one Dry Cleaning Plant and then a few years later they invested with their Son, James, and purchased an additional Dry Cleaning/Laundry Plant. In 1980, they moved back to St. Augustine and the Corporation the Snyder's formed purchased Dixie Feed and Seed on Old Dixie Hwy and C & L Feed in Earlton, FL. When they closed the feed stores several years later, Natalie retired to become a full-time homemaker and gardener. She was renowned for her baking. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and then San Sebastian Catholic Church. She was member of the ladies auxiliary of the Steven Langley Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Natalie is survived by her children, Pam Asselin of Margate, FL, Jacquelyn (Andrew) Timan of Franklin, NC, James (Melanie) of Interlachen, FL, and Patti (Dan) Beard of St Augustine, her 15 grandchildren, Jennifer Pollett, David Asselin, Laura Riley, Andy Timan V, Matthew Beard, Steven Asselin, April Shuster, Thomas Asselin, Jacque Benton, Paul Timan, Shannon Snyder, Mickey Skaret, Elizabeth Timan, Megan Skaret, and Chris Timan, 24 great-grandchildren, Zachary Asselin, Isaac Timan, Rodrigo Asselin, Slade Pollett, Ethan Timan, Brooke Riley, Hannah Timan, Kane Riley, Brenna Riley, Anna Timan, Rama Shuster, Klare Riley, Kaelin Riley; Alanna Shuster, Abby Timan, Blessie Beard, Gabe Benton, Amelia Shuster, Ayla Shuster, Natalie Timan, Luke Benton, Oliver Beard, Sarah Timan, Paul Jason (JP) Benton, and her niece, Sue (Bo) Smith and her nephew, Mark (Connie) Samson. She was also predeceased by her sister, JoAnn Drasta. She will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a funeral service at San Sebastian Catholic Church on 15 January 2019 at 11:00am. There is also a viewing on Monday, 14 January 2019 at Craig Funeral Home from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park (www.craigfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements.
