Kyle L. Allen, 21, of St. Augustine, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, on the campus of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. Kyle was a native and lifelong resident of St. Augustine and was a 2009 graduate of Pedro Menendez High School.

An accomplished linebacker on the Menendez football team, Kyle served as team captain for two years and helped lead his team to its first playoff berth in school history. He was selected to the All-County team by the St. Augustine Record and received honorable mention honors on the Class 3A All State team. He was a student at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. where he was a business administration major and a member of the football team. Kyle has been referred to as "the epitome of the All-American kid." He was a quiet leader who had touched so many lives, and was well respected by his teachers, coaches, and peers.

He is survived by his mother, Lucy Allen and her fiancŽ John Long of St. Augustine; his father, Scott Allen of Jacksonville; sisters, Kelly Allen and husband Matt and Kayla Allen, all of St. Augustine brothers; Kevin Allen of St. Augustine, Zane Allen and Luke Allen, both of Michigan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by the love of his life, and longtime girlfriend, Carice Parker, and her family. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Louis Cook, Jr. and Shirley Johnston, paternal grandparents, Roland and Millie Allen, and an aunt, Lee-Ann Lekas.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Good News Church. A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in Kyle"s memory to assist the family, can be made at Vystar Credit Union, in care of the Allen Family, account 702922151.

St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I'm very sorry and saddened over Kyle's death. I never met him but I know the sort of men that make up the PC Mu Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha; they are good men, honest men, likeable men. I'm sure from what I've heard that Kyle Allen fit this description and then some. My family and I will continue to pray for and think of your family.

Kyle is one of the most amazing young men I've had the pleasure to know. His family members are the most loving and kind people on this earth. I am proud to now call them all family.
