John Brian Medeiros, 61, St. Augustine, Fla., died Sept. 1, 2009, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in New Bedford, Mass., and relocated to Florida in 1989 from Cape Cod, Mass. He went to school at Barnstable Middle School in Barnstable, Mass., and was a graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth High School, Yarmouth, Mass. He worked as a sheet metal fabricator for several years with Hyannis Sheet Metal, Hyannis, Mass., and then worked with Cape Cod Gas Company until moving to Florida. In Florida, he worked as a carpenter in residential and commercial building and hotel maintenance until his retirement in 2006.
John enjoyed driving his classic Chevy Luv truck, classic cars, fishing, camping, and meeting new friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Cape Cod.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lee Medeiros, St. Augustine; son, Tim Medeiros, Southern California; daughter, Lynnette Medeiros Barr, Falmouth, Mass.; step-daughter, Michelle Landry, Derry, N.H.; brother, James Medeiros, Bath, N.H.; sisters, Patricia Washington, Marstons Mills, Mass., Elizabeth Medeiros, Hyannis; step-brothers, Joseph Medeiros Jr., Arizona, Ronald Medeiros, Yarmouth; grandchildren Madison, Haley, and Tyler Medeiros, and Michael Barr; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Wayne Medeiros, of Cape Cod, Mass.
St Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I remember Johnny from the days of our youth, he was incrediably full of life and always had a smile and a hip edge to him, I'm sorry I missed his funeral, but more than that, I miss him.
