I was a tenant of his for a year in Niagara Falls in 2000-2001. I'll always remember his kindness and generosity as well as lovely Rusty. I'm sure he'll be greatly missed.

It was with a feeling of profound sadness when I read of Jim's passing. He and I attended South Lincoln High School together while his sister, Doreen, was a couple of grades ahead of us. Jim was quiet and studious at that time, something that never changed, apparently. We lost touch after I left school. The irony is that while he was at Sherwood Secondary School in Hamilton, I lived a few blocks away. I wonder if Jim was ever aware of the positive impressions he left people with. My sincere condolences to Doreen and her family.

My sincerest condolences to Mr. Dyment's family. I remember Mr. Dyment fondly as the Librarian at Glendale Secondary in Hamilton. He was a gentle soul. May he Rest In Peace.

Mr. Dyment was the librarian at Westmount when I started there in grade 9. During our orientation at the library he mentioned that he usually hired a few students to work the desk at lunchtime. I applied and he gave me my first regular paying job. That turned into a summer job helping to update the card catalogue and that experience enabled me to get a job at the Hamilton Public Library.
Without those jobs, I wouldn't have been able to afford university.
As a result, Mr. Dyment had a huge impact on my life and where I am now, even though he was probably never aware of it.
I'll remember him as a happy, generous and always helpful teacher/librarian who gave a geeky grade 9 his first big break.
Sorry to hear that he's no longer with us.
