Richard Ashmore Obituary

1949 - 2021 The Ashmore family sadly announces the passing of Rick on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in his 71st year. His two-year battle with esophageal cancer was fought with bravery and dignity. Rick will be missed greatly by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda (nee Davis) and by their twin sons, Aaron (Zoë) and Shawn (Dana). His grandchildren Esmé, Oliver and Margot held a special place in his heart. Rick was predeceased by his father Robert Ashmore and mother Shirley Jagtiani. He is survived by his beloved sister Laurie-Lee Anderson, brother-in-law Jack and nieces Robyn and Devon. Rick had a storybook career in the floor covering industry, as he started on the order desk in 1973 and worked his way from sales to management. Rick and Linda's 50 year love of travel, took them around the world, maintaining special friendships to this day. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful Dr. Scher, nurse Barbara and the palliative team at Douglas Memorial Hospital. We are encouraging anyone wishing to donate in Rick's name, to consider the Palliative Care Unit of DMH under the direction of Dr. Scher. In accordance with Rick's wishes cremation has already taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A celebration of Rick's life will be planned at a later date. Online condolences may be shared on Rick's tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

I worked with Rick at The Region of Peel, at the Brampton Community Recycling Centre. He was such a terrific co-worker, and a lovely gentleman.

It is with great sadness that I have been aware of Rick's passing. At Peerless Carpet I enjoyed tremendous guidance and support from Rick during my years employed with him and under his management. His honesty was what I cherished most and there was no one at Peerless I respected more. My condolences to the family.
