It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert on March 13, 2021 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 62. He is predeceased by his father Theodore (1979), sister Mary (2018) and niece Carly Algra Jong (2016). Rob will be lovingly remembered by his mother Afra Jong (nee Veldman), and his brothers and sisters: Gerry (Vicki), Ellie (Michael) Partridge, Nel (Remigio) Dalcin, Emma (David) Hoffman, Frank (Bev), Margaret and Jim. He was a proud uncle to 25 nieces and nephews, and great-uncle to 20 great-nieces and nephews. He was a quiet and humble man with a subtle sense of humour and personal strength and faith that helped him cope with many life challenges and multiple health issues. Special thanks to Brian Chisholm for giving Rob a caring and secure home and tremendous support for several years. Visitation for Robert will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Wednesday, March 17, from 2-4 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 2 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 316 Queenston St., St. Catharines, on Thursday, March 18 at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Wainfleet. As per the Province of Ontario Covid-19 regulations - visitation and the Mass is limited to 30% building capacity. All guests attending the visitation and the Mass must bring a mask and must call to make an appointment. (905)-937-4444.
