It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Olga Jean (Kostuk) MacDonald, on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Woodlands of Sunset. She was in her 95th year of life. She unites with her husband Earle (1995), son Earl (2011), daughter-in-law Lynda (nee Potter) (2000), and great-grandson Oscar (2005). Olga was born on November 29, 1926 in Trenton, Pictou County, Nova Scotia to Fredrick and Minnie Kostuk. Her sister, Marie, is the last surviving member of the family. Mom is survived by her daughters Cheryl Watt (Geody), and Teri MacDonald, her daughter-in-law Denise MacDonald, and her sons Frederick (Sylvanne), Bob (Diane), Rick (Brenda), and Ron (Annemarie). She was extremely proud of her grandchildren. Granddaughters Jennifer, Kelly, Shannon (Isa), Lisa (Rachid), Lauren, Joanna, Julia, Megan, Marta, and Hailey (Jesse), and her grandson Andrew (Erin). Her great-grandchildren brought more special joy into her life. Felix, Henry, Ruby, Cora, Sami, Malcolm, Carson, and Grayson. They made her so happy and proud. Also survived by many, many nieces and nephews and families. Our Mother was a typical mom raising a large family after the war in the 50's and 60's with the need to excel in cooking, sewing, baking, and teaching her kids as well as the other skills of motherhood. It was quite a different time in raising a family as it is today. She had a great desire of playing games which was a main source of entertainment for the family. From a historical sense she was quite fond of telling the story of her being a great-granddaughter of Adam and Maria Murray, who had the first quintuplets born in Canada back in 1880. The mother of the quints was from a family of 5 sets of twins and it was thought that her twins, Ron and Rick, were the first multiple birth in the family since the quints. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff, nurses and doctors at Woodlands of Sunset for the great care and compassion given to our Mother in her final days. It was truly exceptional, kind, and loving care. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held when the pandemic eases enough to allow for it to happen. In lieu of flowers a donation to the
