Evonne Pagel Obituary

Pagel, Evonne L.

Evonne Lauretta Pagel, age 88, of Almond, WI, passed away April 23, 2013, at Crystal River Nursing Home in Waupaca. Evonne was born in Almond on April 20, 1925. She is the daughter of the late Ralph and Lauretta Miner. On November 22, 1945, she married Merle Pagel in Almond where they lived together and raised their family.

After graduating from Almond High School, Evonne attended Central State College in Stevens Point with a desire to major in music. While in college, she was a member of the Tau Gamma Beta sorority and played clarinet in the band. She worked for a short time for Cutler Hammer in Milwaukee and the First National Bank in Madison. Evonne was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond. As a member of the church, she sang in and directed the choir and was also a member of the Ladies Aid. For several years, Evonne sang with both the Stevens Point and Waupaca Sweet Adelines. Besides music, Evonne also loved reading, gardening, traveling, going up North, visiting the casino, and spending time with her family.

Evonne is survived by her husband, Merle and children, Cheryl (Larry) Ammel, Kewaskum; Arthur (Carmen) Pagel, and Jon (Mary) Pagel, both of Almond. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Trina (Jim) Warzynski, Todd (Jennipher) Pagel, Curt Ammel, Krysten (McCann) Schroeder, Tarrah Pagel, Jon Ross Pagel, and Evan Pagel, seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Garret, Cole and Breeley Warzynski, JennaMarie Pagel, Abigail and Quinn Schroeder, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Evonne was preceded in death by three siblings, Gwen Molski, Juanita Tomczak, James Miner, one grandchild, Derek Ammel and a nephew, Thomas Molski.

The funeral service will be Monday, April 29, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Almond, with Rev. Brian Roehrborn officiating. Visitation will be at the church Sunday, April 28, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 29, 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow the service at Almond Village Cemetery.

The family has requested memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.

Merle, from your 3rd cousin, Phyllis Jarnick Calder, Green Bay. We are sorry to learn of your loss and grief. Life is backwards,when we are young and can fend for our selves we have a companion and then, when we're old and need companionship we're left alone. We send our sympathy. (Our Dad's were lst cousins so yes, we are 3rd cousins). My sis and I see Cousin Ken Boelter a few times a year and that is
nice. Take care of yourself.
