Benedict Quella
Benedict Quella, age 83, formerly of Bancroft, passed away Thursday November 8, 2012 at Sylvan Crossing in Stevens Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Benedict will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday November 13, 2012 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church: 8611 State Hwy 54, Almond, WI. Rev. Hector Moreno will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton.
Benedict was born September 19, 1929 in Appleton, the son of Edward and Cornelia (Stommel) Quella. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Menasha. He began working for the telephone company briefly before entering the United States Army in 1948 in the Signal Corps. After his honorable discharge in 1952 he returned to the telephone company in Appleton. He married Catherine Will on November 21, 1953 in Appleton. The couple moved to Plover in 1970, and lived in Stevens Point briefly before moving to Bancroft in 1987. Benedict retired after 38 years with the telephone company in 1986. He was a past member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Elks, Lions, and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Packer fan.
Benedict is survived by five children: Tony (Debra) Quella, Stevens Point; Mark (Judy Benford) Quella, Boston, MA; Peter Quella, Boston, MA; Tim (Beth) Quella, Bancroft; Sara (Tony Brummel) Quella, Middleton. 10 grandchildren: Abra, Evan, Michael, Paul, IsaBeall, Lydia, Emmalie, Benjamin, Alex, Brianna. 3 great grandchildren: Meredith, Mallory, Melanie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Catherine in 2010, and two sons: Richard and David.

To the family of Ben. He was one quality fellow. We both knew him through the phone company and later having moved to Plover from the Fox Valley. He was one of the best!

I remember Ben Quella from the time I was a priest at St Joe's in Appleotn. He was a fine man. Fr George urged me to get to know him. He felt he was a quality person.
