Louis Glazier Obituary

Glazier, Louis H. Louis H. Glazier died April 16, 2012 at home. Herb was born August 3, 1928 in St. Louis to David and Etta (Abrams) Glazier. He is survived by his dear wife Mary McCabe. Herb served in Korea in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and briefly practiced as a pharmacist before embarking in the profession that intrigued him most, the food and beverage business. He became an anchor in Gaslight Square with the Golden Eagle and the Opera House. He was associated with the early years of the original Balaban's and briefly owned the Castlewood, currently Llywelyn's Pub in the Central West End. On October 28, 1977, he and his wife Mary re-opened Culpeppers at the corner of Euclid and Maryland and operated it until March 8, 1988. They were renowned for their spicy chicken wings in St. Louis. Herb was widely respected in the food and beverage profession and took pride in disproving the bar myths that you could not sell canned beer and cocktails must have a swizzle stick. Culpeppers was known for the sign on the door that read Culpeppers prefers not to serve children under twelve. After selling Culpeppers, Herb and Mary traveled extensively. Services: His interment will be private. Any memorials or contributions should be made to an animal charity of one's choice.

Mary....Herbie has always been and always will be one of my favorite
people of all-time. His humor, tough-guy, sweet-heart, generous, layback
demeanor, will always have a place in
my heart. He was a great friend. We love you.
