James A. Furey

1931 - 2015

Furey, James A. 83, of Jackson, MO, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Jackson Manor. He was born October 2, 1931, in Denver, CO, son of Algernon and Mary Dolan Furey. He and Pat Smith were married January 30, 1954. James was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson and retired from K-Mart in 1993. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer, achieving a hole-in-one on two occasions. Loving survivors include his wife, Pat; 3 sons James (Joy) Furey of Fairview Heights, IL, Patrick Furey of Jackson, MO, Tim Furey of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter: Jennifer Furey of St. Louis, MO; and 2 grandchildren, Sarah and Bryan Furey. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alice Dawe, Mary Crymes, and Julianne Stearn. Services: Visitation will be Monday, January 5, 2015 from 9:30 till 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson, MO. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am at the church with Father John Harth officiating. Interment will be 2:30 pm Monday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with full military honors. Arrangements by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
