Jim and I send our deepest sympathys to the Macauley family. We have such fond memories of the Macauleys from the days that my husband Jim Loscutoff played with Ed on the Celtics. We were all so blessed to share such special memories with each other and still think so kindly and lovingly of each other and those great days together, Lynn Loscutoff.

To The Ed "Easy ED" Macauley Family,
I don't know the Macauley Family, but one think I understand and know that to loss a love one in death is hard on any family.
The Bible tells us at Isaiah 29:8,9 that death will be swallowed up and there will be no more tears.

Ed helped bring a NBA championship to St. Louis I remember watching Ed and the Hawks play the Minneapolis Lakers at the old Keil Auditorium. I was passing through St. Louis in February 1957 and was able to see a game. Although I lived in New York, the Hawks were my favorite team, even when they played in Milwaukee in the early 50s. St. Louis has lost a true St. Louis hero. Go with God, Ed.

In 1951 I was a 14 year old boy living in Woodmere Long Island..My neighbor was Sonny Hertzberg. It was a Sunday morning and I was eating lox and bagels at our kitchen table. Suddenly there in my kitchen as big as life was Easy Ed Macauley. Sonny and Ed both played for the Boston Celtics..Ed was my idol..I couldn't believe what was happening..Sonny introduced me to Ed who asked me what I was eating..I told him..My mother asked him if he would like to try one..He said he would..My mother made him a lox , bagel and creamed cheese sandwich..He confessed that he never had one before and thought it was terrific..There I was sitting at my kitchen table in my house eating breakfast with my idol "Easy Ed "Macauley.. I had to pinch myself..My mother, who ws not a sports fan, immediaately became a Boston Celtic fan and whenever the Celts were on t.v. in the New York area, she had to watch the game. Ed was 23 years old then..He was a great guy who talked to you as a friend..I have never forgotten that moment 60 years ago..If there is a heaven, "Easy Ed" I'm sure God has welcomed you in there to join him.. God Bless you and your family..Lew Lorin

Ed Macauley was a Giant in LIFE -- a Giant on and off the court. Ed still inspires us to strive for the best in one's self, family, and community. Ed was a CHAMPION VOICE of Unborn Human Beings who can't fight for their lives. Recent loss of Jackie, Kathleen, and Ed are Heaven's gain... may knowing that ease Ed's dear family's pain. THANKS, ED! Say "HI" to your ole pals Ray and Dottie Smith, my parents! See you later...Love, Chris Smith

Ed was a man who meant so much to so many, especially his teammates. A hard-working player and an encouragement to all who knew and loved him. He will truly be deeply missed. Just a little while longer and Ed will be brought back to life as a human again. With his youthful vigor restored, he will help all transform the earth into the paradise it once was!

Ed Macauley was one of first basketball heroes when he played at St. Louis. He was what I would call one of the founding players of the NBA when the NBA meant something more than it does today. On top of that, I never followed in the athletic vane but I did manage to follow his career as a deacon when I was ordained a deacon. My condolences to all the Macauley family, Ed is either now telling God how to run a fast break or inspiring the Saints to be more active with the poor souls left on earth. May we met in Tir N'an Og! I had the pleasure of debating Ed numerous times on sports radio, and our viewpoints (his conservative, mine liberal) were often far apart. But those differences meant nothing: He was a decent, thoughtful and respectful "adversary." A true gentlemen. And a humble Hall of Famer. He will be sorely missed, but we should celebrate a life well-lived.

Martha and I were saddened to read of the loss of my teammate, Ed. He was my first roommate when I joined the Hawks in 1956. As a teammate he was a moral compass. As my coach he was humane. Mike,
Please accept my condolences to you and your entire family. My dad, who passed away back in February, had a great deal of respect for your father -- especially for his devotion to his family and faith. He enjoyed visiting with him at their monthly luncheons with the rest of the gang from their SLUH Class of '45. We both lost such wonderful role models this year who truly were "men for others".

Deepest sympathy to the Macauley family. I worked with Ed for many years when he volunteered for the United Way, chairing our Speakers' Bureau. He was always available when we needed him, truly loved meeting people at the agencies and sharing his time. He was a dynamic speaker and our master of ceremonies at many campaign events. He was also very funny, which many might not know. A true believer in giving back, I'm sure he is now resting in peace.

This is truly a sad day in St. Louis sports. Ed never lost his sense of humor, something for which everyone who knew him will always remember. A terrific friend, he reached out to many. I will remember what he did for me forever. My sincerest condolences to his wonderful family. It is also a time to celebrate what a wonderful life he had and how many lives he touched. When I saw him at Jackie's funeral you could see the spark in his eyes; along with the sadness of that day. St. Louis, SLU and basketball has certainly lost a treasure.
