James Joseph Devereux Jr.

Devereux, James Joseph Jr. 72, surrounded by his family and fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, died on Saturday, June 30th, 2018. Jim is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Jane Marie (Steinlage), his five children, Betsy (Bob) Cuneo, Amy (Jeff) Conboy, Cadey (Nate) Eastman, Jim (Sara) Devereux, Meggie (Grant) Gentzen, his fourteen grandchildren, Caley, Roz and Ella Cuneo; Jack, Patrick, Catherine, Annie and Colin Conboy; George, Janie and Margaret Eastman; Holden and Killian Devereux; and Reid Gentzen; and his brothers, Tim, Dan (Doris) and Greg (Torie) Devereux. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Mary Jane (Maender) and James Joseph Devereux, Sr. and his brother, Paul M. Devereux. He was a dedicated brother-in-law of Paul (Joan) Steinlage, Mary (Jack) LaBarge, Peggy (Jim) Crowe and Bob (Lucy) Steinlage and a fun-loving Uncle MAJEC to numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to many. Jim, a native St. Louisan, graduated from Saint Louis University High School ('63), Saint Louis University ('67) and completed his Master's in Business Administration at the University of Missouri - Saint Louis. He served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning his career as an industrial engineer, manufacturing consultant and college professor. While Jim was always dedicated to his clients and students, his true devotion was to his family and friends. After playing soccer for both SLUH and SLU, Jim continued his love for the game as a coach with CYC soccer for twenty-five plus years. In his spare time, Jim loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and hitting the golf course with Jane. Services: Visitation will be held at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5th. Funeral services will be at Church of the Annunziata, 9305 Clayton Road, at 10:00 a.m. on July 6th. Private burial for final resting at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's name to Saint Louis University High School, www.sluh.org and/or Autism Speaks, www.autismspeaks.org.
