Melissa Anne Hall (Jeffrey) Ross, Robert Lynn (Sylvie) Hall Jr.,
David Melvin Hall, John William (Robin) Hall, Stephen Scott
(Melissa) Hall, Maria Hall
(Rodney) Schiffer, and Nicole Lynn Hall; dear great-grandfather (Big G) of five; dear brother of Paul Wilbur (Joan) Hall of Sarasota, FL and Alice Hall (J.R.) Brown of Springfield, MO; dear brother-in-law, uncle, greatuncle, and friend.
Melvin G. Hall was born September 4th, 1914 in Dallas County Missouri to the late Ralph and Clara Hall.
After high-school he began work for the A.L. Taylor Oil Company in Bolivar, his start in the oil industry. He obtained his first jobbership in Noel, Missouri, the Melvin Hall Oil Company, followed by others in Southwest Missouri and Jacksonville, Florida, selling Phillips 66 brand for thirty years. He served as President of the Missouri Oil Jobbers' Association, the Missouri LP Gas Association, and on the board of the National Petroleum Institute.
His banking career began in Southwest City, Missouri and Bentonville, Arkansas. He acquired Webster Groves Trust Company in St. Louis in 1960, followed by banks in Springfield, Missouri, Alton, Illinois, and Branson, Missouri. He retired after fifty years in banking in 1998.
Always the entrepreneur, he purchased real estate in Branson, Missouri and built the Branson Inn in 1970, and two music theatres, the Will Rogers (now Yakov) and the MGH
Theatre in the early 1990s.
He has been a member of the Webster Groves Christian Church since 1961, serving on the board as elder and deacon, and as trustee of the pension fund of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church for seventeen years. He generously gave the organ to his church in 1965 and had it restored to celebrate his 90th birthday.
He was a member of the Webster Groves Lodge #84 AF&AM, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite, Mason and Moolah Temple, and
received the highest Masonic honor, the Grand Cross of the Court of Honor for exceptional service in 1983, one of only three in Missouri.
He served on the boards of the Salvation Army, William Woods University, Southwest Baptist University, as Chairman of the Scottish Rite Foundation of Missouri, and as advisory director at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton, and the College of the Ozarks, providing scholarships and grants for many.
He received Honorary Doctorates from both William Woods University and Southwest Baptist University, and a Free Enterprise Award from Lady Margaret Thatcher at the College of the Ozarks.
In 2002, he moved from Branson to #1 McKnight Place in St. Louis. Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman.Services:Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. at Webster Groves Christian Church, 1320 W. Lockwood Ave. Interment private Louisburg Cemetery, Louisburg, MO. Memorials preferred to Webster Groves Christian Church Memorial Sound Fund, Skaggs Memorial Hospital, Branson, MO, William Woods University Hall Scholarship Fund or a charity of one's choice. Visitation Friday 4-7 p.m. at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, with a Rose Croix Service following
at 7 p.m.

Mr. Hall you will be sadly missed. The WW board meetings haven't been the same since your absence. I'll never forget your kind words to a young trustee just starting out in the early 80's. Thanks again for all the generous support you and your family have given WWU. Thanks for your kindness, thoughtfulness and friendship it has been an honor.
