Doris Elizabeth Johnston Obituary
Johnston, Doris Elizabeth (nee Peacock) Passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. She was the widowed wife of Melburn E. Johnston, who passed away in 1990 and mother of Bruce (Jeannie), Mark (Kathy) and Craig (Mary) Johnston; she was the grandmother of Nicholas, Zachary, Madison, Kelly, Amy, Benjamin, Nicholas and the late Alexander Johnston; greatgrandmother of Lillie, Liam, Hailey and Lucas. Doris was the 2nd oldest of 5 sisters named Virginia, Barbara, Shirley and Vivian and also had 1 brother named George. Doris and Melburn were charter members of the Southminster Presbyterian Church where she still regularly attended Sunday services and was just recognized for the 50th anniversary of the charter of that church in Crestwood, MO. Doris was very active in volunteer work as shown by her over 30 years of volunteering at the Missouri Botanical Garden and Missouri Gardener Status, 27 years with the Daughters of the American Revolution serving many years as the chapter Regent and she routinely gathered and delivered goods for the veterans through the VA Hospital. Services: Visitation KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Sunday, May 20, 4-8 p.m. then taken to Southminster Presbyterian Church (10126 E. Watson Rd., 63126) Monday, May 21, for visitation at 10:00 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Missouri Botanical Garden in the name of Doris Johnston would be appreciated greatly.
