Ida Joggerst Obituary

Joggerst, Ida Marie (Lahr) 84, at peace Aug. 6, 2011 Loving mother of Jay and Allison Joggerst, dearest sister of the late Robert (Janice) Lahr of Tx. and Donald (Ann) Lahr of Va., dear aunt, great aunt and loyal friend. It was the Depression and WWII when Ida was a girl in Chester Il. -'The Home of Popeye'- and Ida knew Elzie Segar and all the townspeople that he used as models for his Popeye cartoon characters. A character herself, Ida was known for her 84hats, spicy jokes, 'tellitlikeitis' poetry and pretty rings. She dearly loved her family, holidays in Texas, teddy bears and angels. She enjoyed astrology, the VFW, Pinochle, Red Hats and the Oldies music. Always manicured, her talented hands did counted-cross-stitch, art work, ornaments and sewing. Her various jobs included - clerk, bookkeeper, secretary, waitress, school bus driver, calligrapher and nanny to her 4 darlings. Those who knew her best knew of the tragedy in her life and felt she played 'the clown' only to hide the unspeakable pain haunting her memory. Ida wished to be cremated and at peace with her dear mom Pearl(Ruppert) and dad Alvin Lahr without ado in Chester. Donations to VFWPOST2593.ORG or STLHELP.ORG welcome. Written by friends of Ida
