James A. Blackwell Obituary
Blackwell, James A. a retired Attorney in St. Charles, Missouri, died 05/20/2014 in St. Charles, Missouri. He was 89. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dolores J. Blackwell nee Kasperski, nieces and nephews. He was born near Blackwell, Missouri and reared on a farm near Bonne Terre, Missouri. Mr. Blackwell earned a Bachelor's Degree with honors (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of MissouriColumbia and then his Law Degree from said University. He practiced law for two years in Hillsboro, Missouri and then practiced in St. Charles, Missouri until he retired in 1995. He was past President of the Jefferson County Bar Association, the St. Charles county Bar Association and the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Bar Association. Mr. Blackwell enlisted in the Army at age eighteen in World War II and after basic and other training in the States, served twenty-one months in the European Theatre of Operations. He splashed ashore in France on Omaha Beach in June 6th of 1944 and advanced across France, Belgium and Germany until VE Day. He was awarded five bronze battle stars for the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Ardenned (The Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe. Services: Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00PM on Thursday, 05/22/2014 at PAUL Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00AM on Friday, 05/23/2014 at Paul Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery in St. Charles, Missouri.
