John Tomasovic Obituary

Tomasovic, John L., Sr. age 83, from Des Peres, Missouri, died Thursday, January 11, 2018. Beloved husband for 62 years of Priscilla (Pep) Tomasovic. Loving father of John L Tomasovic, Jr. (Beth) and Susan Tomasovic McClellan. Grandfather of Elizabeth Gaydos (Paul), Priscilla Calvird (Kevin), John L. Tomasovic, III, Christopher Calvird (Leeann), and the late Krista McClellan, and three great grandchildren, dear brother of Nina (Roger) Johnson and Karen (Rodolfo) Cancino. John was owner of the oldest business in Des Peres, MO; Tomasovic Greenhouses & Nursery, Inc., formally John L. Tomasovic, Sr. Florist, Inc. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, 1956, BS Degree in Agriculture. Member of Farmhouse Fraternity. Past President, Missouri State Florist Association; Past President, Allied Florist of Greater St. Louis and recipient of Merited Service Award; Past President, American Carnation Society Local Group; Past President, St. Louis Flower Growers Association; Past President, Growers Association of Society of American Florists & Council Member; Past President, Bedding Plant Foundation; Past President, American Academy of Florists & recipient of Highest Honor in the Floral Industry, Outstanding Service Award from Bedding Plant Growers Association; Co-chairman of Society of American Florists Convention in St. Louis; Volunteer, Society of American Florists booth at Future Farmers of America Convention in Kansas City for 25 years; Scholarship in his name at American Floral Endowment; Past President, Des Peres Optimist Club; Lifetime Member of the World Bird Sanctuary; Past Alderman, City of Des Peres along with various other past committees for 16 years; Shareholder of the Green Bay Packers; President, Water's Edge Condominium; Past Board Member of Forest Hills Country Club. Services: John requested a private service with family. Contributions in memory of John can be made to The World Bird Sanctuary, 125 Bald Eagle Ridge Road, Valley Park, MO; or to the John L.
