Elizabeth Roberts Notice
ROBERTS Elizabeth (Betty) December 28th 1926 - February 13th 2021. Our dear Betty left us on Saturday February 13th 2021 at the age of 94. It was a peaceful passing and one we know she accepted with grace. She was predeceased by her husband Jackie Roberts, brother Harry Taylor, and sister Rene Collins.

Born to Dolly and Robbie Taylor in Sunderland on December 28th 1926, Betty leaves behind her loving and dedicated son Howard, who was her mainstay. She is also survived by her younger siblings: Doris (the late Alec Naylor), Joan (the late Richard Pearson), Ada (the late Collin Hudson), Doug (Jean Taylor) and Pauline (Brian McKillop)

Our extended family members are also grieving, including three generations of nephews and nieces, many of whom are living around the globe. Betty always welcomed news of them, honouring our family's unwritten law of open and constant communications.

Betty was our family's encyclopaedia of knowledge and the go-to person for long-forgotten memories. "Where did our parents meet?" "Who was at my baptism?" "What is the name of our second cousin?" Betty had all the answers!

A self-taught and gifted couturiere, she dressed us in beautiful, head-turning creations for weddings, vacations, ballroom-dancing competitions, and school dances. She "peddled the treadle" and turned out outfit after outfit for her family. Thank you, Betty!

A very special thank you goes out to Joan Coppin for being such a loving friend to Betty. Dear Joan, your frequent visits brightened her days. We also want to honour Betty's furry pets, who faithfully kept vigil throughout the last weeks, staying by her side to offer their warmth, affection and good company.

The family also extends its gratitude to Betty's doctors, medical staff and attendants, who diligently cared for her over many years. You know who you are, and we thank you for all your kindness. Due to Covid restrictions there will be a private funeral service taking place.
