My wife, Edith, and I visited John and his wife at his home/studio several times. We bought a wildlife painting for our oldest son and his wife, and I bought a pencil drawing of a Bald Eagle. One time we took our granddaughter Jenny (about 12 years old); to show him her art portfolio. He looked at her many drawings but especially the ones of horses, his favorite animal and he said, " look at their FEET!" He said that most artists hide horses feet in tall grass or in snow, including himself.

Just read of John’s passing. So sad, my condolences.
I moved and didn’t realize of the demise of our “true salt of the earth “gentleman.” I visited Johns studio, visited with him, and was impressed with John’s passion and enthusiasm, not only of his art but his life experiences. I left with four pieces of art, after sharing over an hour of John’s stories, inspiration of his art, and his many adventures.
Here’s to a life well fulfilled. Rest in peace.

Our sympathy to the family - John was a wonderful man, a great artist. We have several of his works hanging on our walls in our homes. We enjoyed the time that we were able to enjoy with John in the years we spent in Sundre. May he rest in peace.
