Anne DeLeslyn (Dess) Bickerstaff, of Atlanta, Georgia, entered Eternal Life on Friday, May 11, 2018. Dess is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Deacon Michael and Cathy Bickerstaff of Marietta, Georgia, her nephew, Chris (and Jenny) Bickerstaff of Woodstock, Georgia, and her niece, Michele (and Cade) Howard of Marietta, Georgia, four great-nieces and -nephews and a large extended family of cousins.

Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on April 5, 1944, the daughter of Wilbur Delaine (Peter) and Anne Elizabeth White Bickerstaff, Dess grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi and attended the University of Mississippi. She began a long and distinguished career in civil service in the mid-sixties starting with the Selective Service System. A life-long Catholic, Dess was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta, Georgia. She had an abiding love for and faith in Jesus Christ, devotion to His Blessed Mother, and love of His Church. She was generous and kind and had a compassionate heart. She valued her relationship with God, her love of family and the many friends she met and cherished over the years. Dess especially enjoyed dining with family and friends, and travel. Her passion for learning new things and gaining wisdom from the old never waned.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, Georgia, 30075 on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:30 A.M with Monsignor Peter Rau presiding and Deacon Michael Bickerstaff assisting. A reception will follow at the church in McNamee Hall. Burial will take place at a later date in the Memorial Gardens at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta.
