Marc Watson Obituary
Marc Watson, a prominent South Florida lawyer and businessman, passed away on Sunday, October 27th. Marc was 74.

Marc is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children, Pam Schwadron (husband Steven) and Kevin (wife Julie); his four grandchildren, Ali, Bailey, Remi and Leo; and his brother Glenn.

Marc was born in New York City, and moved to South Florida as a young boy. He received his undergraduate and law degree from the University of Miami, becoming a lifelong Canes fan. He moved to Washington, DC to begin his legal career at the Securities and Exchange Commission, but could not stay away from South Florida for long, returning to begin a 13-year run as one of the top securities lawyers in the area. Marc joined with close friends to form Arky, Freed, Stearns, Watson and Greer, one of the largest law firms in Miami at the time.

Always extremely driven, intellectually curious and up for a professional challenge, Marc left his law firm in 1986 to pursue his true calling, entrepreneurship. A natural leader, it didn't take long for Marc to once again succeed as he was instrumental in the founding of Ivax Corporation, then going on to found Exact Science and Sano Corporation. Marc and his son Kevin then founded C/max Capital, becoming lead investors in About.com, Adjoined Consulting, Concordia Pharmaceuticals and Verid.

Marc retired in 2012 to spend more time with his loving wife of 52 years. High school sweethearts, Sharon and Marc traveled the world and spent time in their second home in Vail.

Marc's larger-than life personality and sense of humor was a great source of enjoyment to all and a big part of what defined him. It is no wonder that he was always surrounded by a never-ending stream of friends. Marc – also affectionately known as "Mick" to many – believed in living life to the fullest. When he wasn't sharing a glass of wine with friends (and telling the back story behind the wine), Marc enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing, the NY Yankees, art and hiking, but nothing brought Marc more joy than being Papa, and spending time with his grandchildren. Marc lived up to his name and truly made a mark on life and to everyone whom he encountered. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Donations in memory of Marc can be made to the S. Donald Sussman EmpathiCare Village and the work of Dr. Agronin to benefit Alzheimer's care. To make a gift, please call (305) 898-5602 or visit https://www.miamijewishhealth.org/donate
