Scott Beigel died February 14, 2018 in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. He was 35.

Beigel, a geography teacher, cross-country coach, and summer-camp counselor, saved the lives of students during the shooting, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

"He cared a lot about his students," one student, Thomas Risley, told the Miami Herald. "I'm going to miss his colorful personality."

"Thousands of people at Camp Starlight looked up to Scott," a summer-camp colleague, Grant Williams, told the New York Times. "He was someone you strive to be like."

The Sun-Sentinel reports that the funeral for Scott Beigel will be Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2pm at Temple Beth El, 333 SW 4th Ave., Boca Raton.

Legacy mourns all those who died at Stoneman Douglas.

I wanted to say that I am deeply saddened by the deaths of these innocent people. It's not fair at all. What Scott did before he passed was amazing. He saved people's lives, knowing that he may die. And he did. But he died a hero. We will miss you, Scott. Even though I've never met you, I wanted to send my condolences.

To the family of Scott Beigel.

My condolences for the tragic death of your son, fiancé and brother Scott Beigel. It is sad that we have to live in a world where violence continue to happen time and time again. God also see the suffering and the pain that we are experiencing and because of this, He will see to it that all the harm that humans have experience and caused will soon be undone. May God provide with the comfort you need at this time and in the future.

To Scott's family, I sincerely offer my sympathies. Even though I never had the privilege of meeting Scott, he seemed to be a lovely person who deeply cared for others ahead of himself. I hope that as time passes, you are able to see past the pain and be able to live joyfully with God's help (2 Thessalonians 2;16,17)

To the family,
My deepest condolences in the passing of Scott. He died protecting students from gunfire. His heroism will not go unnoticed by God. Notice what Hebrews 6:10 says, "For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed......" Yes God takes notice of righteous works. Scott will receive life in paradise: You will be with me in Paradise. (Luke 23:43)

My husband is a high school teacher and we have had this conversation many times (too many times after a shooting). We all would like to think we could act as bravely as Scott did. Many many more families are NOT going through what you are because of his selfless act. God bless and I hope you can take a small amount of comfort knowing how many children he saved that will now go out and truly try to change the world against gun violence. The lives Scott saved are going to have a tremendous ripple effect and save many many more lives than the ones in that class room. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Scott,
I only know of you through this tragedy. My heart goes out to you, your family, and your friends. May you rest Peacefully at God's side now, and may your families & friends receive the Blessing of peace and strength to get through this, the most difficult time in their lives right now, knowing that in the days and weeks ahead, although much too difficult to see now, the pain will always be there, but life will get a little bit easier for them, with support, and most of all, with love. I'm so sorry this had to happen to all of you. These are my own personal thoughts and words from my heart, and I will be placing on each of the pages of the loves that were lost.
Rest Peacefully, Scott.

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Scott however, my maiden name is Beigel and after reading about him and watching the tributes written and said on TV I felt connected somehow. The loss of Scott and the other 16 people is a heartbreak that is so unbelievable. I dont know who will read this, but my Beigel family immigrated to the U.S.A.
