Alma (Turnbow) Boyd Obituary
Funeral services for Alma Turnbow Boyd, 85, of Sweetwater, will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend Gary Dennis officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
Boyd died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 in Abilene.
Boyd was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Washita, Okla. She married Lee O. Turnbow on Feb. 23, 1946, in Colorado City. Alma had lived in the community since 1951. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and was a very active member in her life. She was also very active in SNAP and the quilting club. She worked many years for SISD as cafeteria manager. She was a past member of Sweetwater Chapter # 352 and Mamie D. Crane # 1018 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sons, Lelan Turnbow and wife Lorena of Colorado City; Eddie Turnbow and wife Teresa of Sweetwater and Ricky Turnbow and wife Brenda of Merkel; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ozell Miller of Clovis, N.M.; and one brother, Wayne Tibbs of Las Cruces, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Turnbow on Oct. 24, 1985; her parents, Joseph and Winnie (Athley) Tibbs; two brothers; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Rodger Crowley, T.J. Turnbow, Jason Kovick, Mark Shannon, Scott Turnbow and Greg Turnbow.
