Audie Mae Smith Obituary
Services for Audie Mae Smith, 83, of Sweetwater, will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Mike Ensminger officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the funeral home.
She died on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1932 in Nolan County. She married Arel Boney Smith on April 26, 1963 in Lea County, New Mexico.
She was a longtime resident of Sweetwater. She and A.B. managed Smitty's Steak House, The Longhorn Motel, and the Garden of Memories Cemetery during their life together. She also worked for the Bitter Creek Center as a cook and aide for several years and enjoyed caring for others. She was always known as "never turning away" a stray: human or pet.
Survivors include her step son, Steve Smith and wife Rose Mary of Utah; son, Kenneth Williams of Sweetwater; two step daughters, Anna Mae Peptist and husband John of Kansas and Charlene Reinhart and husband Michael of South Carolina; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sisters, Aline Brand of Euless and Ruby Bagley of Midland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dayton and Clara (Lewallen) Davis; husband, A.B. Smith, on Sept. 29, 2011; sister, Nettie Newman; and three brothers, Alton Davis, Doyle Davis and Dalton Davis.
Pallbearers will be Scott Williams, Landon Williams, Chris Williams and Rob Strzelec.
