Bobby Hubert "Bob" Lanier Obituary
Bobby Hubert "Bob" Lanier was born Oct. 7, 1938 in Blackwell . He passed away on Oct. 5, 2015, at Abilene Regional Hospital, of natural causes, surrounded by his family.
He graduated from Blackwell High School. He was an accomplished business person and had a terrific sense of humor. His career began at USG in Sweetwater, and then he moved to Snyder and worked at American Magnesium, Reef Chemical, and Panther Industries. He and his wife Jan, owned and operated Lanier Enterprises. He retired and moved to the Cattle Call Ranch near Blackwell about 10 years ago. He loved his family, and he had great friends across the US. He was an avid hunter, sports fan and his favorite hobby was collecting arrowheads. His greatest passion was watching his son, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Bob is survived by his daughter, Cindy Hendley of Abilene; son, Scott and wife Tyfani Lanier of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shay and Chad Sipe and Sloan Hendley, of Abilene; Cody and Justin Lanier of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two great-grandsons, Hays and Swade Sipe, of Abilene; sisters, Rudy Thomas of Maryneal and Patti Lanier of Blackwell; and many friends and family whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan; brothers, Dink Lanier and Tommy Lanier; a sister, Virginia Harris; and his parents, Abe and Emma Lee Lanier.
A celebration of life will be at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, on Thursday Oct. 8, 2015. Visitation with family will be from 7-8pm and service following at 8 p.m. Bob's nephew, Reverend Lance May will officiate.
Pallbearers are his nephews, Brad Lanier, Harvey and Jeff Harris, Paul Dent, Todd Thomas, Brian May and Jerry Lanier.
Burial will be at Decker Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m.
