Burl Elton Dennis Obituary
Burl Elton Dennis, 90, of Cedar Park, formerly of Big Spring, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born March 9, 1927 in Nolan County, Texas and married Elizabeth "Libby" Walker September 5, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death April 19, 1995. He then married Evelyn Ray Love May 10, 1997 and she preceded him in death December 17, 2007.
Burl came to Big Spring in 1944 at the age of 17. He went to work for at the Big Spring State Hospital, where he met his wife, Libby. He worked as a barber for many years and returned to work at the state hospital, retiring in 1988.
Burl was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church, serving as a Deacon many years. He was an avid golfer and had many golfing buddies at Comanche Trail Golf Course.
Survivors include his daughter, Merlee Walter and husband, Jonathan of Cedar Park; and two grandchildren, Justin McWethy of Corpus Christi and Moriah Walter of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lennie Mallon Dennis; and two brothers, Truman Dennis and Mallon Dennis.
