Calvin Monas Griffith Obituary
Funeral services for Calvin Monas Griffith, 83, of Trent, will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Trent, with Reverend Cliff Phillips, Reverend Ronnie Freeman and Reverend Tyler Shields officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Trent under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at the funeral home.
Griffith died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, in Snyder. He was born July 23, 1932, in Lexington, Texas. he married Catherine Lee Cotton on Feb. 9, 1968 in Sweetwater. Calvin was a gas plant operator working for Grimes Gas Plant for 15 years and Davis Gas Plant at Claytonville, Texas for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trent and had lived in Trent for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Griffith of Trent; daughters, Ida Lee Millican of Snyder and Jennie Lee Sorrells and husband Gary Wayne of Snyder; son, Gary Don Griffith of Abilene; brothers, Ervin Griffith of Lexington, John Griffith of Lake Sweetwater and James Alfred Griffith of Abilene; sisters, Linda Stagner of Abilene and Glenda Collier of Abilene; grandchildren, Chance Millican and wife Blair, Josh Sorrells, Brett Sorrells, Shadye Millican and Zane Sorrells.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Monas Elbert and Katie Lee (Moses) Griffith; and sisters, Betty Lois Underwood and Anna Talent.
Pallbearers will be Chance Millican, Josh Sorrells, Brett Sorrells, Zane Sorrells, Shadye Millican, Gary Wayne Sorrells and Clifton Millican.
