Carolyn (Durham) Kerbel Obituary
Fort Worth - Carolyn Kerbel, 69, passed away peacefully Monday, May 15, 2017, at her home.
Celebration of life: Was held Monday, May 22, in Greenwood Chapel.
Carolyn was born Aug. 19, 1947, Sweetwater, to J.B. and Annie Durham. She attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Joe Kerbel. She was a cheerleader for the Buffalos where she cheered for her future husband, Joe, an offensive lineman.
After graduating, Joe and Carolyn married May 24, 1969. She began her career as an elementary school teacher while Joe went through dental school. She taught in the Hereford, Dallas, Everman and Pflugerville Public School systems for over 30 years and was loved and admired by her fellow teachers, but more importantly Carolyn changed the lives, gave confidence and left a legacy to hundreds of students she taught until she retired in August 2002.
Above all else, she loved, provided and wanted the very best for her family. She was a selfless person who would always place family and friends first in her life.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kerbel in 1983, and her mother, Annie Durham in 2010.
Survivors: Daughter, Kristen and husband, Michael Carver of Lantana; son, Joe Kerbel and his fiancée, Blake of Flower Mound; daughter, Kassidy Kerbel of Flower Mound; eight grandchildren; father, J.B. Durham of Austin; brother, Larry and wife, Patricia Durham of Montecito, Calif.; and sister, Lana Delamotte of Austin.
