Charles Wayland Clark Obituary
Charles Wayland Clark, Sr., 80, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Friday, July 7, 2017 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Truman Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories directed by McCoy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Wayland was born September 19, 1936 in Rotan, Texas to Frank and Vallie (Noles) Clark. He married Melvelene Bullock July 14, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas. Wayland had lived over half of his life in Nolan and Fisher Counties. Wayland was a man of many talents and was definitely not afraid of work. Wayland worked at a gas station, was a cement finisher for bridge construction, was a café cook, oilfield roustabout, done refrigeration, owned a barber shop, and did security work. He also was very successful as a car salesman, in the portable toilets industry, running pump trucks, owning a car wash and accumulated and managed several rent properties. Wayland was a Baptist. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and just an all around family man.
He is survived by his wife Melvelene Clark of Sweetwater, Texas, a daughter; Debra Augeri of Crawford, Texas, two sons; Charles Wayland Clark, Jr. and wife Billie of Sweetwater, Texas, James Kyle Clark and James Bartley of Dallas, Texas, a son-in-law; Terry Sparkman of Winters, CA, thirteen grandchildren; April, Amber, Darby, Molly, Brianna, Hunter, Autumn, Bella, Darek, Samantha, Katelyn, Madyson, Haleigh, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Kay Sparkman, a daughter-in-law; Wednesday Clark, and his parents. Pallbearer will be Lewis Lagal, Donald Kite, Ronald Bewley, Trace Fomby, Rick Alley, Price Baugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Chittum, Bob Pickett, Arthur Ray Boyd, Don Adkins, Bruce Clayton, Roy Mize, Carroll Kearney, Billy Whisenant, Kenny Spaulding.
