Cleo Burns Pettit Obituary
Services for Cleo Burns Pettit, 88, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kary Fry officiating. Interment will follow at Moran Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
He passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Moran, Texas on July 30, 1927. He married Venita Joy McCanlies on March 11, 1955 in Moran.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. He loved hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved being around his family. He made friends everywhere he was and always handed out candy everywhere he went.
Survivors include his daughter, Treva LeBleu and husband Richard of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Cayley Scott and husband David of Sweetwater and Lacey LeBleu of Denton; two great-grandchildren, Caden Wilburn and Brynlee Scott; sister, Bobbie Dean Sledger and husband Jack of DeSoto; brother, Burle Pettit and wife Frances, of Lubbock; and special friends and their families, Dean Young (deceased), and Don Young and his wife Kaye, all of Ennis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Pettit; his son, C.B. Pettit; his brothers, Jack and John L. Pettit; and his sisters, Doris Randolph and Wanda Pettit.
Pallbearers will be Keith Brock, Scott Pettit, Kevin Pettit, Caden Willburn, Justin Wilburn, David Scott and Steve LeBleu.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Chris McCanlies.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the and County-City Library.
