Born May 25, 1977, Cory was the first son born to Elden and Loretta Benton. He lived in Littlefield his entire childhood, graduating from Littlefield High School on 1995. After briefly attending South Plains College, Cory chose TSTC for his schooling, receiving his associates in drafting in 1998. Cory was currently employed with Bosworth Steel Erectors out of Dallas, Texas as a project manager. Cory loved playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an avid Red Raider fan. His greatest love was his son, Blake, and he enjoyed spending time with him, playing video games, cooking out. He called Blake his "superman" and he was an excellent dad.
Cory is survived by his son, Matthew Blake Benton of Sweetwater; his mom and second dad, Alan and Loretta Armistead of Uvalde; his father, Elden Benton of Ripon, Wisconsin; one brother, Justin Benton and his wife, April, of Littlefield; a sister, Megan Jephcott and husband, Matthew, of Amarillo; his grandparents, Melvin and Vondee Mears of Littlefield; nieces Alyssa, Jaycee and Avery Benton of Littlefield and nephew, Kinsler Jephcott of Amarillo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Littlefield. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Blake Benton College fund, at any Prosperity Bank. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
