David Malachi Williams Obituary
David M. Williams, a long time resident of Sweetwater, went to be with his Savior on Monday, May 4, 2015, while a resident of Central Texas Nursing/Rehab Center in Ballinger, following a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
David was born on March 10, 1929 in Concord, NC, where he grew up and then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years. He met and married his wife, Edith Earlyne Driver in 1952 while on active duty. Upon his discharge, he and family moved to Big Spring. There he started his 36 year career with Texas Electric Service Company (TESCO) in 1954, serving as accounts manager in Big Spring, Lamesa, Sweetwater, Wichita Falls and Fort Worth; retiring in 1991. He was also an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 and American Legion Post #227 of Roscoe.
He is preceded in death by his wife Edith; parents, Charles and Pearl Williams; sister, Helen Hartsell of Concord, NC; son, Charles David Williams; and grandson, David Nelson Williams of Abilene.
He is survived by his children, Harold Wayne and Mary Jane Williams of Mathis, Beverly and Larry Maners of Sweetwater and son Kenneth Dewayne and Angela Williams of Fort Worth. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Gladys and her husband, Ken Furr of Concord, NC; and his seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Reverend Matt McGowen officiating, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to , Trinity Baptist Church of Sweetwater, or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
