Dean Alexander Obituary
Dean Alexander, 86, of Sweetwater, formerly of Roscoe, TX and Newton, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 7th at his residence at Hoyt Place in Sweetwater, Texas. In accordance with his wishes Dean was cremated. Family visitation will be held at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, Texas on Friday, February 17 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18th at 2:00 P.M. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, Texas, with Matthew Lang of Newton, Kansas officiating.
Dean was born in Roscoe, Texas to the late Bill and Johnnie Alexander on October 8, 1930. After graduating from Highland High School in 1948, he attended Arlington College where he played football from 1948 to 1950 then joined the Marines, where he was named Honor Man in his platoon and served in the Korean War. On August 5,1951 he married Doris Lee Harvey and lived in Roscoe most of their life. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1986.
As a third generation farmer he had a love for the land, and the plants and cows that it supplied. He was an avid game player that included and kind of dominoes or cards, and always had a joke to tell.
Dean was also preceded in death by his parents Bill and Johnnie Alexander and one grandchild Damon Earl Chancellor. He is survived by two sons and one daughter: Mike and wife Melinda of Colorado City: Kim and wife ,Marsha of Roscoe; Lee Ann Chancellor and husband David of Laramie, Wyoming and 1 brother, Stanley Alexander of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
