ROSCOE, TX - Services for Devon Reece Freeman, 21, of Roscoe, will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Roscoe Church of Christ with Dan Boren and Corey Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
He died on Friday, May 29, 2015 in Point Coupee Parish, La.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Devon was born Jan. 1, 1994 in Abilene. He lived in Nolan County and Roscoe most of his life. He graduated from Roscoe Collegiate High School, where he played Roscoe Plowboy football for four years and was regional qualifier in Texas in pole vault for two years and was state qualifier in Florida. After graduation he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Signalman. Devon is a member of the Roscoe Church of Christ and the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. He loved hunting, fishing, tractor pulling and mud bogging and most of all he loved children.
Survivors include his parents, Christy and Jason Freeman of Roscoe; brothers, Dillon Freeman of Roscoe and Zach Gutierrez; sister, Dakota Freeman of Roscoe; maternal grandmother, Sue Smith of Sweetwater; paternal great-grandmother, Willo Dean Ellis of Liberty, TX; paternal grandmother, Linda Freeman of Roscoe; paternal great-grandmother, Elnor Freeman of Roscoe; uncles and aunts, Brian and Jami Smith of Balch Springs, TX, Jake and Lindsay Freeman of Sweetwater, Jeri Freeman of Dallas and Joni Freeman of Sweetwater; cousins, Brody and Jalin Freeman of Roscoe and Brian Smith Jr. of Balch Springs, Texas; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Freddy Freeman on June 6, 2007; and his maternal grandfather, Jimmy Don Smith, on August 2, 2012.
Pallbearers will be Riley Teltschik, Juan Solis, Eric Padilla, Ty McGlothlin, Zach Gutierrez, Brett Rodriguez, Gabriel Medellin, Joe Luis Aguayo and Riley Gilmore.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to one's favorite charity.
