Doris Earlene Adkins, age 89, of Abilene, Texas, (Former resident of Sweetwater, Texas), passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Silver Spring
Health and Rehabilitation Center in Abilene, Texas.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Roy Mekasch officiating, Burial will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Doris was born on August 16, 1931 in Weatherford, Texas to Charlie and Mary
Elizabeth (Gilliam) Stults. She married William Adkins. She was a Baptist and member of Broadway Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Tx and then Harvest
Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. She worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell and Bank One for many years before retiring.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Stene and husband Michael of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, son, Kenneth Adkins and wife Pam of Abilene, Texas, four grandchildren, Kimberly Emslie, Dennis Stene, Christina Adkins, and
Molly Adkins, and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Adkins, mother, Mary Elizabeth Purcell, father, Charlie Stults, step-father, James Purcell, and brother Wayne Purcell.
