Dorothy Adeline (Greenwood) Finley Obituary
Dorothy Adeline Greenwood Finley passed on March 15, 2018 in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 87, to celebrate glorious eternity with her Lord and Savior. Dorothy was born to Japhus P. ("Dick") and Minnie Viola Strickland Greenwood on December 18, 1930 in Rochester, Haskell County, Texas. She married Earl Arthur Finley in Eastland, Texas, on September 9, 1947 and moved to Sweetwater, Texas where she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Connie's Dress Shop as Assistant Store Manager and at HigginbothamĀ­Bartlett Lumberyard as bookkeeper where she was employed at the time of her retirement. Dorothy moved to Abilene, Texas after the death of her husband who predeceased her on September 21, 1991. She was also predeceased by: a daughter, Carolyn O. Finley; brother, William ("Wig") Greenwood; and three sisters, Leona Caldwell, Musette Harris, and Marie Flowers. She is survived by her loving daughter, Earline Neitzler, and son-in-law, Tony Neitzler. Other survivors include a sister, Ruth Howard, sister-in-law, Zeta Greenwood and many nieces and nephews along with "special daughters" and a "special granddaughter," Ashley Wolf Larios.
She was known for her love for music and large circle of family and friends. Most will remember her well for her keen wit and sense of humor which she was proud to display. Graveside services will be held on Monday, at 1:00 p.m. on March 19, 2018, at Eastland City Cemetery with Raymond Greenwood officiating. At her special request there will be no visitation. All arrangements will be under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Honorary pallbearers are her nephews: Raymond Greenwood, Dickie Greenwood, Ronny Caldwell, Derryl Howard, Johnny Flowers, Roy Finley and J.J. Finley.
