Dwain Jones, 87, passed away at Windcrest Nursing Facility in Abilene, Texas December 2, 2017. Graveside Services will be 11 A.M. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas with Dr. Rob Nichols officiating. Interment will follow directed by McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Dwain was born September 20, 1930 in Big Spring, TX to Oddie and Willie (Newman) Jones. He grew up around the Noodle and Merkel area most of his life. He graduated from Merkel High School and attended Draughn's Business College two years. He married Mona Madolyn Robertson April 12, 1952 in Merkel, TX. She preceded him death March 27, 2001. Dwain worked as District Manager for Commercial Credit Corporation. After 35 years of service he retired and then worked ten years for the Headstart Program. Dwain was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene. He was a veteran serving in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother Craig Jones. He is survived by two daughters; Connie Garrett & husband Tom of Abilene, TX and Kimberly Swiney & husband Bill of Abilene, TX, a brother; Doyle Jones & wife Clydene of Conroe, TX, a sister-in-law Fay Jones of Aspermont, TX, four grandchildren; Kristi Brokaw & husband Jon of Abilene, TX, Adam Garrett & wife Lauren of Abilene, TX, Whitney Bricker of Abilene, TX, Andrew Garrett of San Diego, CA and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1651 Pine St., Abilene, TX 79601.
