Eleanor Zane (Smith) Hughes Obituary
Eleanor Zane Smith Hughes, 83, of Sweetwater, Texas joined the angels in Heaven and saw her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 1, 2017 in Denton, Texas. She was born on June 13, 1933 to Lloyd Hudson and Nola Faye (Marsee) Smith.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, SuLynn Hughes Husbands of Pilot Point, son, David Hughes of Sweetwater, sister, Dorothy Simmonds of Fort Worth, two grandchildren, Michael Gann Husbands and Ashley Husbands.
Eleanor Smith was raised in Breckenridge Texas and graduated from Breckenridge High School. Upon graduation, she received the Coca Cola Scholarship for full college tuition, room and board. She used the scholarship to attend college where she was a diligent student, who graduated in three years with a degree in Education from The Texas State College for Women (currently Texas Woman's University) in Denton. After graduation, she began her teaching career in Fort Worth. Eleanor taught many years in Fort Worth, Port Arthur, and finally ended her teaching career in Sweetwater,Tx. She taught second grade all of her years in Sweetwater and most of her years in education. She loved education and always enjoyed seeing her former students as they grew up and had children of their own.
After she left teaching, she dedicated her life to being a caring and loving mother to her children, a good wife to her husband, and an extraordinary grandmother to her two grandchildren. She always showed compassion and kindness to everyone around her. She taught her family how to love deeply and demonstrated God's love and grace throughout her life. She had a true servant's heart, and always helped anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Hughes, her brother Peter Smith and her parents.
A memorial service were held on Thursday May 4, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Roselawn Memorial Park.
