Elizabeth Bell Hickson Obituary
Funeral services for Elizabeth Bell Hickson, 92, of Sweetwater and formerly of Colorado City, will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Curtis Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Hickson died Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater. She was born August 22, 1923, in Mitchell County. She married Hubert Harlan Hickson on Feb. 15, 1943, in Colorado City. Elizabeth had lived in Colorado City most of her life until moving to Sweetwater in 2000. Most of her working life she was a bait house operator in Colorado City and then worked at Spartans and Walls Industries as a sewing machine operator. She was a member of the Baptist church and her love will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Kamer and husband Roland of Sweetwater; three sons, Hubert Harlan Hickson, Jr. and wife, June of Abilene, Danny Hickson and wife Joann of Sweetwater and Wayne Hickson of Sweetwater; two brothers, Wilburn Bassinger and wife Winona of Abilene and Hubert Tom Bassinger and wife Shana of Colorado City; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert H. Hickson on Sept. 9, 1992; a brother, Dennis Bassinger; and her parents, Gus Valentine and Mary Lee (Moore) Bassinger.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Hickson, Christopher Hickson, Jeff Hickson, John William Hickson, Anthony Hickson and Roland Dale Kamer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Rogers, Matt Hall, Aaron Gardner, Jacoby Williams, Jeffery Hickson, Steven Kamer and Conner Hickson.
