Emma Arlene Schlueter Obituary
Emma Arlene Schlueter, 91, of Austin, TX, formerly of Sweetwater, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Buckner Villas Nursing Home in Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater with Rev. Gil Cherry officiating.
Interment will follow directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
A Family and Friends Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday (June 20th) at the funeral home.
Emma was born February 23, 1926 near Longworth, Texas to Johnce Lamar and Eula Dean(Campbell) Dooly. She resided in Sweetwater since 1944 and married the love of her life Daniel "Dan" Herbert Schlueter on August 26, 1946 in Sweetwater, TX. After sixty years of marriage, Dan passed away January 9, 2007. She was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church and was a Sales Clerk for many years for Nolan Furniture Store. She will be remembered for her many handmade gifts and acts of kindness. After the death of her husband, Emma lived at the Hoyt House in Sweetwater from 2008 until 2011. She then moved to Austin, Texas to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and John, and resided at Buckner Villas Memory Care and Skilled Nursing Center until her death. Emma's family wants to say, A Very Special Thank You and Appreciation to all who took care of her at the Hoyt House and Buckner Villas.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Kay Schlueter and husband John Carter of Austin, TX, two sisters-in-law: Betty Schlueter Smith of Fort Worth, TX and Billie Jean Dooly of Deer Park, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by "Good Friends and Neighbors", Jackie and Bob Kreidel of Sweetwater, TX and Estelle Councilman of Sweetwater, TX.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Johnce Dooly, and three sisters: Mary Cole, Dean Hall, and Linda Boultinghouse.
