Glynna (Turner) Critz Obituary
On March 25, 1927, a little boy walked with his mom down the road to the neighbor's house to see a new baby. The new baby was Glynna Turner and the little boy was Quinnon Critz. Glynna was born to Dick and Ruby Turner at the home of her grandfather, J.R. Carson. Glynna went back home with her mother to Tokio, Texas, and later started school at the Turner School in Tokio. The school was named after her grandfather Turner. She attended schools in Brownfield and Barstow. She graduated from Barstow High School in 1944, as valedictorian. She moved with her family to Sweetwater right after school was out. She worked at Avenger Field as a typist in the Motor Pool. There she met Ruby Critz, who introduced her to her brother, Quinnon. He had just returned from service in World War II. Glynna and Quinnon were married March 8, 1947, in Sweetwater by the Reverend Ball, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Glynna worked for a while at Woolworth's and later became Secretary of Lamar Street Baptist Church in 1959 where she worked until 2013 and was a member.
Glynna is survived by two children: Dale Critz and wife Judy of Sweetwater, and Cathy Reynolds and husband Scott of Vacaville, Califonia; six grandchildren: Carolyn Critz, Jessica Colvin, Betsy Bond, Cody Critz, Amy SoRelle and Travis SoRelle; eleven great- grandchildren Kali, Anthony, Andru, Eliana, Je'Yon, Steven, Chase, Braid, Jake, Kylie and Brynlee; and three great-grandchildren: Leilani, Kamarii and Andru.
She was preceded in death by her husband Quinnon, three brothers Jesse, Bob, Ray and her sister Sue. Visitation is at McCoy Funeral Home on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. with services at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at Lamar Street Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Clifton and Reverend Daniel Norton officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.
